After almost 20 years of personal training hundreds of clients, believe me when I tell you I have heard every excuse in the book. You’ve probably heard many of them yourself (and maybe even used one or two). How about - I don’t have time, I’m too out of shape, I don’t want to bulk up, I don’t know how, I’m too tired, I don’t have anyone to work out with – even “I tried it once and it didn’t work”. I want to help you overcome whatever gets in your way and reach your goals.

Why? We all know that exercise is good for you – disease prevention, fat loss, better sleep, better memory, more energy, longer life, improved muscle strength and improved bone strength. But it also makes you FEEL better. A client has NEVER told me after a workout that they wish they hadn’t come. They always feel better. That is the miracle of exercise. It’s like a super-powered Prozac.

Let’s go over some of these excuses. First, probably the most common – I don’t have time. What is more of a priority than your physical and emotional health? Okay, maybe food and shelter, but once you have those covered, most of us can squeeze out 30 minutes three or four times a week. What can you cut out of your day? I know life is crazy busy – I’m living it. I have three kids, I work and I have another business on the side. It’s easier for me to find the time to work out, because I’m already at the gym. But it hasn’t always been this way for me. I’ve worked in an office and I’ve stayed home with three young kids. I’m here to tell you, if it’s a priority for you, you will find the time. I have trained CEOs, presidents of major corporations and stay at home moms. They were equally busy and they found the time to work out because it was a priority for them!

I’m so out of shape, I’m intimidated by the gym, I don’t know what to do, I’m too old. These are variations on the same theme. Some people feel anxiety even thinking about going to a gym. They may have visions of gym goers who know exactly what they are doing, with perfectly buff bodies, who will look down on them. Nothing could be further from the truth. I frequently tell my clients, “Everybody has to start somewhere.” Those buff bodies you see weren’t born that way. They achieved that through hard work and, yes, exercise.

I tried it once and it didn’t work. Well try it again. With me. It will work.
